Are the United States and India plotting against China?
From the 1962 Indo-China war to 2020, the relations between Beijing and New Delhi has been sweet and sour. And, recent Indo-China Cross Border incursion with China originated virus has triggered The U.S along.
The Indo-China border tensions are at peak since months. China claims this land to be a part of its territory, though it is an Indian territory. As per Indian military, Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops started incursion at the Pangong Tso lake, located 14,000 feet above the sea level in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, India on 5th May. And, the Indian government says its soldiers stayed back in at its side.
The United States is on the 1st, and India on 3rd position is the worst-hit Coronavirus country in the world. Thus, the pre-existing anger towards China being a virus originated country extend further over China incursions into Indian territory.
The U.S-Indo cooperation against China
The United States and India are likely to go for joint military action against China anytime soon. It would be a mutually win-win situation for both countries. Both the countries are worst hit with China originated Coronavirus and have massive uproar against China within their countries.
Last month, the U.S and India held a joint navy exercise in the Indian ocean to warn China in the South China sea. Before the joint exercise, Indian foreign ministry stated that South China sea is a part of “Global Commons” and India has an abiding interest in peace and stability in the region.
After a massive loss including 20 soldiers martyred, India expects to have broad plotting against China over the South China sea with key partners: The United States, Australia and Japan. Also, India can cooperate over the South China sea with concerning countries such as Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam to take on China from all around.
India strategy for China
During the recent dialogues, India has asked China to pull back its troops and stop further constructions activities in the Depsang – Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) sector in eastern Ladakh. But, China is unlikely to go back as of now.
On the other way, India cannot forcefully push back the Chinese troops as it may lead to a military war which will get condition even worse. India owns a defence budget of $71 Billion, where China managed to secure $261 Billion being an Economic Superpower. Would there be enough comparison?
Therefore, despite taking some risky steps on the border or Chinese mainland, India may continue to attack over the Chinese economy and can mount pressure on China in direct or indirect ways. India has already banned 59 Chinese apps, including top social media platforms Tiktok, WeChat and Helo. The United States is also willing to ban Tiktok and WeChat as Chinese parent companies own these.
Additionally, India can call upon the Global community to turn their attention towards China’s treatment of Uighurs Muslims and can firmly stand with Hong Kong against the Chinese new security law which topples Hong Kong’s autonomy.
