Will Bloomberg’s $100 million work to Trump’s defeat?
Mike Bloomberg bets million in Florida alone to defeat President Donald Trump. On the other side, Trump himself is a billionaire bags many other billionaires to contest the elections. Thus, it is likely to make Presidential elections rigged, vague & more competitive this time.
Billionaire Mike Bloomberg pledged to spend $100 million to defeat Donald Trump in Florida again. As per the Bloomberg’s promise, the money is directly going to Democrats in favour of Joe Biden. And, on both the sides, billionaire donors are supporting their parties to campaign. “Mike Bloomberg is an impact player,” said former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, who served as a co-chair of Bloomberg’s presidential campaign. “He’s looking across the field. He takes in the data, looks at the evidence, does the analysis and then determines where to best have his impact on changing the course of an election. That’s why he decided to invest so heavily in Florida.”
Bloomberg’s advisors say the $100 million amounts come up with various offers for Democrats: it frees up the Democrats cash, allowing the campaign and outside groups to focus on other key swing states; it requires Republicans to spend more heavily to make up for the disparity there, and a decisive win by Biden in Florida could help tamp down efforts most Democrats are expecting from Trump to discount the results of the election. Still, Bloomberg is not seen as a stable candidate for both the sides as he was initially a Democrat and became a Republican in 2000 just before his first run for New York City Mayor. He left the GOP in 2007 and was not affiliated with any party until registering as a Democrat again last year.
Bloomberg spent over 1 Billion and could manage to win just one primary contest: Samoa. “The guy has an ego as large as anybodys. It took him a while to get his feelings unbruised,” said John Morgan, a major Democratic fundraiser and plaintiffs’ attorney in Florida. He added that Bloomberg nonetheless has the opportunity to deliver a “knockout blow” to Trump if Biden ends up winning Florida. Bloomberg’s aides argue that Bloomberg has been working from the start of his campaign and has spent over $275 million on anti-Trump advertising.
Bloomberg advisors say that they are working and money will be spent in Florida. Much of will go to TV and Internet advertising. Democrats say it is an unexpected deficit in Florida. Many say, Biden who visited the state on Tuesday for the first time since becoming the nominee, did not reach out to Hispanics mainly. “It has gotten closer,” said Manny Diaz, a former Miami mayor who is advising the new Bloomberg effort in Florida. “We see a narrowing because there is a vacuum right now. And what is going to be important over the next 50 to 60 days is to fill that vacuum.”
